Hi, I'm Anthony Alston – My profession is Network Security Engineer. Basically, that means I am the night's watch, defending the realms of men from what lies beyond the (fire)wall.

I am an United States Air Force veteran. I am also the happily married father of two lovely (/insane) girls. When not attempting to keep up with the little ones, I enjoy creating (and playing) games of all varieties.

I’m a network security engineer.

I have been designing & maintaining secure networks for 15+ years. I’ve assured data confidentiality, integrity, and availability in a diverse array of environments in that time, including top-secret classified military networks, international presidential visits, and payment card critical data environments.

There is an expression in Russia: The wise man learns from someone else’s mistakes. To that point, I am involved in more computer security groups/communities than I care to name (though Krebs on Security and Threatpost deserve special mention for those starting out). In addition, I have a Public Trust Position (6C) clearance, Top Secret/SCI-eligible clearance, and certification as a PCI Internal Security Assessor (ISA).
